muslim world. los angeles deputies paraded the man out of his southern california home early this morning. authorities say the man wrapped in a towel, then wanted to question him about possible probation violation. he served prison time for bank fraud and is banned from using a computer. the film "innocence of muslims" was uploaded to youtube. the man is not in custody or under arrest. shed more light behind the controversial film, joined by cnn's miguel marquez. why take him in for questioning now? what's with the timing in all of this? >> this is all part of the federal government's effort to investigate his parole -- his -- terms of his parole. and probation. he's on five years supervised probation after being convicted of bank fraud in 2010. one of 26 conditions that go along with that probation and one of them is that he's not allowed to use any devices or access the internet without first informing his parole officer, having his parole officer sign off on that device or in way he's using the internet. i mean, there are certain things like banking and other things that one ne

were sleeping. miguel marquez has been following the story, and he joins me now from los angeles. good morning, miguel. so why was he meeting with police to begin with? >> reporter: well, he wasn't meeting with police. he was meeting with his probation officer. l.a. county sheriff's detectives picked him up around midnight to go and see his probation officer. media had been camped out there all week. clearly from those pictures you were showing, this is a guy who does not want to be seen. i'm sure he fears perhaps for his life. but there are other things out there. this is a man who was on probation until 2015. he was convicted in 2010 of identity fraud and identity theft. he has a slew of conditions that he has to keep up with, most interestingly that he is not supposed to use any device acce his probation officer ok'ing it. here are a few words from steve whitmore as to why they took him in. >> the l.a. county sheriff's department assisted federal probation officers in a voluntary interview -- nobody is arrested. nobody is detained. nobody is in custody. the gentleman came on his own

-mails and hundreds of them in fact that were leaked to the los angeles times and they were e-mails that detail what the concert promoters were saying about him and people who were working with him, and what they were saying about his medical condition right before that big comeback tour was supposed to launch. the promoter is called aeg. and ag was apparently so worried about jackson that their top folks suggested hiring a psychiatrist and a big time psychiatrist to evaluate him and the e-mails paint a picture of michael jackson in crisis and they come off of the midst of two significant lawsuits that promoter is facing down. one of the lawsuits comes from the insurance agents, and the insurance company, and the insurance company that is asking a judge to wipe out the $17.5 million policy they are being asked to payout because of the death of the top star and they say that concert promoter purchased that policy saying that michael jackson was a-okay and ready to perform, and the other lawsuit is coming from the family of michael jackson and it is a wrongful death suit. basically the fam

one of the busiest freeways in america closed. people in los angeles are calling it car mugedden two. will it live up to that name? last summer, drivers went through a similar closure on the 405. it went smoothly because most drivers actually tried to avoid the 405. are they doing it again this year? lots of construction activity behind you, but thankfully, no, i guess, traffic tie-ups anywhere. >> we actually just got an update from the l.a. fire department and the organizations that are running this construction. we're actually hearing that so far, there aren't any major massive delays anywhere in the los angeles area. it does appear that people are listening to the public warning to try to stay at home. i'm going to quote the fire chief here and she actually said that carmageddon so far is an excellent sequel. what is happening behind me is what is referred to as carmageddon. the nation's busiest stretch of freeway. there's a ten-mile stretch that is shut down. if you have ever driven in los angeles, this is stunning not to see any vehicles on this amount of freeway. why it has to

southern california. these are live images in southern california near los angeles, the area, glendora, 75 acres consumed and they're trying to get a handle on interest before it gets out of control. it has been tender dry and without moisture and as temperatures continue to climb, they're not out of danger. if you're in southern california in this region, watch out, you could see smokey conditions an poor air quality there. our other big stories, two of them. eruption of severe weather in the southeast, the remnants of what used to be category hurricane isaac that made its way on shore five days ago. there were 19 fatalities in haiti. four fatalities in the united states. now, very warm moist unstable air erupting with big thunderstorms especially in northern sections of alabama, in madison county around the vis sinty of huntsville, they've had reports of downed power lines. some wind gusts very strong, also back in mississippi. look at these big thunderstorms that have erupted around huntsville, alabama, also extending to northwestern portions of georgia as well. if you are

to be free of traffic jams, for ten miles. one of the busier freeways in los angeles is çóclose. a repeat of what happened last year. there along the 405, how is it looking? >> reporter: well, so far, they are actually saying carmageddon two, to quote one of the fire chiefs is a very good sequel, so thumbs up, so far. and what you're seeing here is really what carmageddon is, the ten-mile stretch here of the freeway. you're talking all of this freeway, an essential artery here in los angeles, completely empty. there are no cars. you know how extraordinary this is. and then if you look up the 405 freeway you will see exactly why the 405 has had to shut down. this is the mulholland bridge, and the northern part of that has to come down. it has to be torn down to make way, at least that section, make way for an extra car pool lane. when the car pool lane is finished for this extra stretch of 405, all the way through, it will be 73 miles of car pool lane, the longest one in the world. but carmageddon, specifically meaning with the shutdown of 405, there is more traffic on all the other
